WEBCAST INSTRUCTIONS

Use of live or archived webcasting is no longer a new technology for most users, but we emphasize that each broadcast is subject to a number of technical challenges in order to be successful.  For example, your organization may have firewall or bandwidth restrictions that affect the successful delivery of a webcast.  Check with your information systems person first if you are experiencing problems after following the instructions below.

If you have not previously done a webcast we suggest that you visit the websites below to familiarize yourself with the instructions for streaming a broadcast.  We suggest you do this prior the day of this program, especially if you are a first time user.

To receive MCTFT webcasts you must use a Windows based PC with a newer version of Windows that usually has Microsoft’s Windows Media Player already installed.  If it does not you must download, configure and test the Media Player prior to the broadcast.  The richness of your viewing experience may be also dependent upon the speed of your connection, buffering rates, any net congestion present that day and other technical factors.  Most of your questions can be answered here: Webcasting Questions.

A Mac-Based Version of the Windows Player can also be downloaded from that site.

The US Department of Health and Human Services and SAMHSA's National Clearinghouse for Alcohol and Drug Information (NCADI) had sometimes in the past facilitated the live streaming of MCTFT Counter Drug teleconferencing events via the Internet.  They also still host an archived version of many previous MCTFT programs.

As of 1 September 2006, they have discontinued this service.

SAMHSA has archived over ten pages of MCTFT and other previously recorded  programs.  See: SAMHSA Program Library.  You can test your software and connectivity speed by linking to a previously achieved program stored at this site.

Users with Windows Media can connect to current MCTFT programs on demand, at this website: MCTFT Upcoming Programs & Webcasts.

Links to past MCTFT webcasts can be found here: MCTFT Past Webcasts.

Note:  All SAMHSA and MCTFT webcasts are FREE and in the PUBLIC DOMAIN and are available for general use by the public without regard to an expiration date.  The contents may not however, be used without further coordination from the sponsors in cases where fees are charged to view these programs.
